At the ranch there is a stir of excitement. I think it comes when spring draws to a close. We’re all anticipating temperatures to break into the 70’s this week. Winter, we hope, now becomes a memory but in Idaho, you expect weather to change. In the next few weeks, the final touches are being completed as the ranch reawakens for our 2010 summer season. I thought it would be fun to give everyone a few updates on the exciting news for the coming year.

Fishing Opportunities.
One exciting bit of news is that Red Horse Mountain Ranch has expanded our outfitting license to include Lake Coeur d’Alene. Along with all of the other amazing guided adventures, our guests will also now have the opportunity to fish for Chinook salmon, large and smallmouth bass, crappie, and northern pike through the summer season. The pristine serenity of the lake and its surroundings has earned Lake Coeur d’Alene a reputation as one of the world’s most beautiful sights. Lake Coeur d’Alene is about 30 miles long and ranges from 1 to 3 miles wide. It has 135 miles of beautiful shoreline and is an average of 120 feet deep. The warm water fisheries which include the large mouth bass, small mouth bass, crappie, and northern pike, will also be available through most of the summer and fall season. The warm water fishing trips are more active and fishing can also be done with fly rods in the 6-8 wt sizes, or spinning tackle. Trips will either depart for half or full days. For both of these new trips, an Idaho license, available for purchase at the ranch will be needed. These trips are limited to only 1 boat on the water per day.

Massage. Our two massage therapists at the ranch have also increased their offerings available this season to include a sports massage, couples massage, and Hot Stone therapy. They have also added a body scrub & massage, which begins with a sugar or salt scub blended with essential oils and nature’s ingredients designed to exfoliate and soften skin as well as hydrate. The scrub is followed by a full body Swedish massage.

Horseback Riding.
This year Red Horse Mountain Ranch has 90 horses! Rides are offered every morning and afternoon. Kids program rides occur in the morning and the kids have adventurous afternoons planned with kayaking, a pontoon boat, a 60 foot climbing wall, high element challenges, and more!

Food and Dining. By guest suggestions, we have brought back our full salad and sandwich bar at lunch, along with other hot dishes, fresh breads, and desert. Our menu is well versed for all of those food likes and dislikes. Along with our 7 course dinner, we promise you’ll never go hungry!

As temperatures warm, the ranch has begun to come alive. The flowers are blooming. We’ve seen many whitetail deer during the day feeding in the pastures with velvet antlers. The wild turkeys are still gobbling once in a while. The ranch is almost ready for all our guests, we only have but a few more items to get ready for everyone. The staff has been extremely busy. Till your arrival, enjoy the warm weather!
