Red Horse Mountain Ranch Policies

All rates are a per person rate for double occupancy. A 50% deposit is required to secure your reservation at the time of booking. The remaining unpaid balance is due at the conclusion of your stay. The weekly rates plus a 15% resort charge, 6% Idaho sales tax, and 2% Idaho bed tax will complete your all-inclusive stay.

To avoid the 3% credit card fee, pay by check, wire, or ACH

All rates are subject to change without notice. Although we occasionally extend limited time promotional discounts or incentives, we are unable to offer retroactive discounts or refunds for previous bookings in the event of a price reduction or promotional offering.

We want everyone to have the opportunity to experience Red Horse Mountain Ranch, but we understand that plans can change. We have put together a cancellation policy with some flexibility to help in case you need to cancel. We do strongly encourage travel insurance.

Please keep in mind that transferred deposits are nonrefundable, and we don’t offer any refunds or credits for reducing your occupancy within 90 days of your arrival.

We appreciate your decision to vacation with us and value every reservation. If you have any questions about our cancellation policy or need clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Reservations Manager at [email protected] or (208) 689-9680 x1.

If you feel our staff exceeded your expectations, additional gratuities are allowed and appreciated, but certainly never required.

Horseback riding is available to those riders under 240 pounds. Trail riding is available to kids ages 3 and older, with ages 3-6 being led by a wrangler, depending on their ability. Riders with questions regarding medical concerns should contact the ranch and/or have a doctor’s permission prior to arriving. Advanced riding is available at Red Horse Mountain Ranch once the rider passes the lope/canter advanced test in the arena, allowing our wranglers to evaluate your ability to control your horse and stay in the saddle at faster gaits. Each guest is asked to fill out the Activity Form after making their reservations, so we can gain a better understanding of your riding experience and match you with the perfect horse. If you have any questions regarding the horseback riding policies, please contact Reservations at (888) 689-9680, extension 1.

Because of the large number of horses, as well as a few cats and dogs already here on our Ranch, and for the safety of your animals, we do not allow pets.

Besides a hat, riding boots, and clothing suggestions, no. All of the equipment for the activities is provided and available. However, if you would like to bring your own fly rod, etc., you may do so. We recommend if you have any questions to give the ranch a call and to talk with one of the adventure guides. Each day at the Ranch, there is a menu of guided adventures available. Since you’ll be staying for the week, you’ll have the opportunity to do everything on the ranch. The schedule is located in the main lodge for all the guests to sign up for guided adventures whenever they would like. Parents or children (ages 3-10) can also sign themselves up for the Kids’ Program activities during the week. A typical day at the ranch includes an early morning activity, morning horseback ride (or other activity), and an afternoon guided activity. Lots of choices everyday!

Usually between 10 and 15 through the summer, ranging between the ages of 3 and 10. There are usually 5-7 in the teen years.

Yes, yes, and yes! A snack bar is open around the clock with fresh fruit, cereal, milk, juices, bagels, granola bars, etc. And each meal has the children in mind as well. Kid friendly, and if there is something your picky eater needs, let the chefs know in advance on your activity form!

We sure do. Plenty. So if you choose not to travel with a pair of slick soled boots you’re more than welcome to grab a pair from the Barn. If you’re a big cowboy, you might have to bring your own as sizes above 13 are hard to come by.

Every full day while at the ranch, if they choose to. The Kids Program does other guided adventures in the afternoon like the challenge course, kayaking, archery, and pottery barn. There are a couple of days where they can ride with you on the family horseback rides too. For kids ages 12 and up, there are all kinds of riding opportunities as well!

Teens also have the unique chance to hang out with their siblings AND they are more than welcome to go along for the adult adventures too. Most of the teens find hanging out with our staff just as fun as well. With all the adventure we have, teens usually have plenty of opportunities while on the ranch.

Our ranch experience is designed specifically for this. The kids’ program is designed to allow you to have your children taken care of completely during their day OR you are more than welcome to join them. We even have specific time periods when you can do your adventures as your own family. During each week on the ranch, there is one night set aside for parents to dine in a formal setting (with or without you needing to be formal) and the kids have their own evening planned. This is a special time for the adults to celebrate the week with the adults and the kids to do the same.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Prior to your arrival, we’ll have you fill out our Activity Form which includes any special dietary requests. Vegans, allergies, gluten-free, etc, are not a problem, but we do like to know of this well in advance so the menu can be adjusted accordingly. Gluten-Free, vegetarian, and allergies are very typical food requirements that our chefs take care of each week on the ranch.

The nearest airport is Spokane International Airport (GEG) in Washington state, 70 miles from the ranch, or approximately 1.5 hour drive time. Airlines flying into Spokane include Alaska, United, Delta, Southwest, Horizon, and other major airlines. If you’re flying in to Spokane International Airport (GEG), it’s best to schedule your flights to arrive between 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, if possible. With Sunday check-in being between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, you’ll arrive at the ranch in time for appetizers and happy hour before dinner. You’ll have several options for transportation to the ranch, including a rental car, Taxi service or rideshare service such as Lyft or Uber. You can learn more about transportation to and from the airport on our guest information page.

Yep. There’s places to sit and take in the clean air and breathtaking views. You’ll be amazed at how quiet the ranch is when everyone is off on their own adventures with the guide

Yes. More than likely if you’re making your reservations early, we’ll easily be able to put you all in your own cabin together.

That’s easy. 3 top things mentioned in our reviews are the staff, the amount of guided adventures, and the food. We’ll keep everyone (and we really mean everyone) so active and full during their stay, they’ll almost need a vacation from their vacation at the ranch and probably a diet. If you have a well trained ranch staff, 300,000 stunning acres of Idaho forest, 100 horses, and summer sun, it’s going to be tough finding anything better. But don’t let us tell you, go check the reviews!

Other Hints

Most everyone will be taking the shuttle in from the Spokane International Airport (GEG). A flight arrival between 12 & 3 pm is perfect. Or, arrive in Spokane on Saturday and make a day in Spokane or Coeur d’ Alene. We’re hearing from our guests this year that the flights seem to work better with a Saturday arrival. The shuttles can easily pick you up from anywhere in the region. On Sunday afternoon, when you arrive at the ranch, we’ll get you settled into your cabin, give you a short tour around the ranch, and give you some time to relax before our cocktail hour and appetizers. Dinner will be ready at around 6 pm and evening entertainment will begin. Departures will occur at 9:30 AM on Saturday and we’ll be sorry to see everyone head home.

Throughout the week, you’ll have the opportunity to choose from any of the outdoor adventures we have in store for everyone. Massages, horseback riding, fitness hikes, kayaking, sporting clays, bike tours, and more!  You’ll need the entire week to fit it all in, but don’t forget, relaxing with a good book is also highly recommended. Every evening has something fun planned from campfires to evenings in our old west saloon. We’ll have beautifully crafted dinner with courses paired with some of our favorite wines, luncheon horseback rides to far off meadows, and all-day rides to some of the nearby peaks. It’ll be a week to remember!

From advanced to beginner horseback riders, your week is going to be filled with lots of riding. After our orientation ride on Monday, there are advanced, scenic, and all-day rides scheduled throughout the week. You’ll also able to take advantage of learning from some of the wranglers by taking a lesson. One of our past guests suggests bringing a pair of bicycle shorts to go under your jeans to save your bum. If you don’t have boots, we do have boots you can wear but slick soles are a must. You should also make sure to have a few pairs of jeans, a pair of shorts, or something you can get wet in for the kayaking trips, boat tours, and bike rides. Some folks bring a pair of leather gloves with them to ride with during the fall. We recommend this highly. A pair of tennis shoes or running shoes are also very handy.

We have a saying in Idaho during the fall. If you don’t like the weather, wait a few minutes. Plan on evenings being chilly, a good fleece jacket will no doubt be very useful. Rain is possible but don’t worry about that stopping the horseback riding. The barn has a number of full length slickers to fit you.

Our chefs are going to make it very difficult to shed pounds while you’ll be here. Daily baked breads, fresh salads and fruits, homemade desserts, and more. Some decide to get a little dressed up during our Wine Dinner. Don’t have to though, a pair of jeans and boots are regular attire on the ranch. This will be an exciting and fun evening! For those guests that have food likes or dislikes (and the likes are just as important), don’t forget to fill out your activity forms and tell us. Gluten free, vegetarians, etc are all welcomed!
